The Engaged Faculty Institute is a two-week, online, asynchronous learning experience for those interested in teaching community-engaged courses. The institute works best for those who are ready to design or re-design at least one specific community-engaged course and is open to all faculty (tenured/tenure-track and instructors). Instructors from Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact member institutions can participate at no cost. Those from non-member campuses can participate for a $250 fee. Contact Emily Shields for more information.
2020-2021 Scheduled Institutes:
Due to location-specific grant funding, Iowa member campus instructors and their community partners also have the opportunity to earn a $250 stipend (for each instructor and partner) for institute participation for courses that will be taught by Spring 2022.
To participate in an upcoming institute, please complete the application below.
Iowa faculty have the option to receive funding from the State's Volunteer Generation Fund if you intend to implement your course by the end of Spring 2022. A $250 stipend will be paid following completion of the online institute. After the course is implemented, you would have to complete an evaluation of how the institute impacted the course, share your syllabus, and share metrics included students and student "volunteer" hours. There is also the option to pay a $250 stipend to a community partner staff member for their role in course implementation. If interested, please complete the questions below and we will follow up.
Thank you for your interest. Please complete this information and you will receive a contract prior to the institute.
